Women have always strived for beauty and invented various ways to emphasize their natural attractiveness. And for a long time, face masks were the most important thing in personal care. They made it themselves from herbs and other natural ingredients.
Many girls still prefer to make natural face masks at home. After all, that's the only way you know exactly what you're putting on your skin, and you don't have to worry about possible allergies or testing cosmetics on animals.
In this article, we want to tell you how to make homemade face masks from improvised products and cheap ingredients.
How to decide on the composition
Before you start preparing the recipes directly, you need to know which ingredients to choose so that the homemade face mask is the most effective.
And for this you need to determine your skin type. You can do this in a beauty salon or on your own. First, you need to remove your makeup and leave it on your face for a few hours. Then examine the face in daylight with a magnifying mirror.
If the skin is transparent, has a feeling of tightness and peeling - this is a dry type. It can be congenital or acquired. It is particularly negatively influenced by external factors: regular ultraviolet radiation, low relative humidity, wind. Such a dermis needs constant abundant hydration and nutrition. Homemade face masks can help with this.
If the dermis looks greasy, thickened, and large pores are visible, then it is an oily type. In this type of skin, sebum production increases, which, combined with dust and dead particles of the epidermis, forms plugs - the familiar "black dots".
Acne and rashes often appear on oily skin, which can then become inflamed. Possible causes of oily skin:
- heredity;
- hormonal disorders;
- endocrine system disorder;
- inadequate hygiene care;
If there is tightness on the cheeks and dilated pores are visible on the nose, this is a combined type. Such skin combines normal and dry or oily skin types in different areas of the face. This can cause black dots on the forehead, nose and chin, and flaking on the temples or cheeks after washing. To determine this type of dermis, you need to wash yourself thoroughly and wipe your face with a napkin after two hours. If a greasy mark is printed on a napkin in the T-zone, then the skin is combination.
In the summer it looks greasier, in the winter it tends to flake. The reason for the increased fat content is often the excess of the testosterone hormone at a young age, heredity, bad habits, and an unbalanced diet.
And the last type is normal. Such skin does not peel and does not have excessive oiliness. It has almost no rashes and looks smooth. Such a face requires regular cleaning and hydration.
Once you've determined your skin type, it's time to start choosing the composition of your future face mask from homemade ingredients. There are three types:
- Nourishing, moisturizing, toning and cleansing - designed for continuous care of the skin and maintaining its perfect condition. Such masks are used for all skin types, the differences are only in the composition, because each type needs its own active ingredients.
- Anti-inflammatory, whitening, anti-couperosis - this group of masks successfully fights against obvious skin defects. It is used to treat various inflammations and rashes.
- Anti-aging, lifting masks belong to the anti-aging group and help tighten the skin of the face. But you won't need them anytime soon.
To know exactly what masks you need, it is best to contact a beautician first.

Cleansing and toning
With gelatin and activated carbon
Complex:
- 1 tablespoon of gelatin;
- 2-3 activated charcoal tablets;
- 2 tablespoons of water.
This is the best composition for a mask that helps get rid of blackheads and sebum. Before you start kneading and applying the composition to your face, you must first clean it properly and steam it. If everything is done correctly, the effect will be maximum.
After washing and steaming, when the face is ready for the mask, start mixing the ingredients. First, mix the gelatin with water, mix and leave for 2-3 minutes so that the gelatin swells. While this is happening, grind the activated charcoal into a powder. Now you need to add it to the gelatin, mix it again and put it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Be sure to check that the product is at the right temperature before applying it to your face.
As soon as the mask begins to tighten the skin and move away from the edges, remove from top to bottom. You will notice that all the deep dirt remains on the film.
At the end, be sure to apply the skin nourishing cream to restore its balance!
Use on oily or combination skin 1-2 times a week.

Such a mask not only cleanses the skin of impurities, but also narrows the pores thanks to lemon juice and clay, and tea tree essential oil makes the skin soft and velvety. Regular use of the mask helps to overcome age-related changes and improves the shape of the face thanks to its lifting effect.

It is not necessary to limit yourself to one component - you can make a mixture of herbs. Just make sure you're not allergic to them first!
How to make a mask:
Grind the dry herbal mixture into powder, pour boiling water over it and cook for 20-30 minutes. After that, the liquid should be drained and the remaining warm herbal porridge should be wrapped in thin gauze and applied to the cleansed face.
Such a mixture very gently, quickly and effectively removes impurities from the pores, and its beneficial properties actively tone the skin and give pleasant bonuses in the form of radiance and freshness. Herbs help fight acne and inflammation. And the scent of herbs calms you down and turns cleaning into a real spa treatment!

Rules for using masks at home
A big part of skin care is an evening ritual. And in order for everything to go well and not only benefit, but also pleasure, follow the simple rules.
Start your preparation by cleansing your face of decorative cosmetics with a gentle makeup remover.
It is desirable to exfoliate the dead cells beforehand, so that all the useful firming substances penetrate well into the skin of the face, this ensures the greatest effectiveness. The scrub can also be used at home.
- The evening procedure of applying the mask cannot be done while running. Put the housework aside and take half an hour just for yourself.
- It is important to prepare all face masks immediately before use. The remaining mass does not need to be stored.
- All the ingredients of the mask must be of good quality, and ingredients such as sour cream, fruits, kefir, etc. , they should be fresh, preferably if they have been stored for no more than a day.
- Cleanse as usual before applying the mask. Owners of oily and combination skin will probably need a pre-exfoliator as well. After cleaning the skin, open the pores as much as possible, steam it over the bath or make a warm wet compress. This allows for better absorption and maximum effect of all ingredients.
- So that the hair does not disturb the face, collect it in a bun and secure it with something.
- Depending on the consistency, the mask should be applied with clean hands, a brush, a gauze towel or a cotton pad.
- Most masks should be applied not only to the face, but also to the neck and décolletage. An exception is drying masks made for oily facial skin, because the dermis in the décolleté is even drier and more sensitive.
- Apply a homemade mask along the massage lines, moving from the center of the face to the temples. The exception is the area directly around the eyes - it is not necessary to apply a mask there.
- Rinse off the mask with plenty of clean water. It is better not to take it from the tap, but to prepare a jug of boiled water in advance, cooled to body temperature.
- After washing off the mask, do not wipe your face, gently wipe off excess moisture with a clean towel. Apply a cream suitable for your skin type on a wet face.
- Do not expect an immediate effect from the very first procedure, as this is not possible in all cases.
